- Learn and share strategies for supporting and assessing student investigations
We invite high school teachers interested in teaching and learning strategies using collaborative investigative cases. Leading authors Margaret Waterman and Ethel Stanley will introduce the Investigative Case learning process.
We will explore workplace applications of biology, ecology, and evolution, with new technology rich investigative cases covered year. Our focus for Summer 2008 is: Plant Forensics; Environmental Monitoring and Remote Sensing; Seed Technology and Agribusiness.
Schedule of Events
Case Development (July 7 – 13):
Adopt, adapt, or develop a case to customize for your classroom. Collaborate with scientists and science educators to learn investigative case strategies and develop the content and tools.
Case Testing (July 14– 18):
Practice new skills and examine student learning in 4 days of leadership working with students who participate in program summer career camps.
Quarterly Online Reflective Meetings:
Follow-up online meetings and mentoring to support classroom implementation and share experiences.
Classroom Case Experience:
Learn from classroom implementation contributing a portfolio and working with institute researcher videotaping classroom. |
